Home Front Bags Pattern *

The Home Front Bags Pattern by Emma Brennan is a vintage inspired bag from the 1940's which has a functional shape and military detailing that was popular from the war years.  There are 2 different view - View #1 has a pointed flap and tab closure and View #2 has a pieced flap with vintage buttons.  Finished size is 10" H x 14" W x 5" D.

Materials Needed:

• VIEW #1:
• 1/2 yard (50cm) of 44" wide (115cm) or 1/3 yard of 54" wide (140cm) fabric 1
• 1/2 yard of 44" wide or 1/3 yard of 54" wide fabric 2
• 1/2 yard of 44" wide lining fabric
• 1/2 yard of 44" wide firm sew-in interfacing (and of optional batting)
• 1/2 yard of 36" wide (92cm) fusible interfacing for flap, tab, and handle
• VIEW #2:
• 1/3 yard of 44" wide or 54" wide fabric 1
• 1/3 yard of 44" wide or 54" wide fabric 2
• 1/3 yard (35cm) of 44" wide or 54" wide fabric 3
• 1/2 yard of 44" wide lining fabric
• 1/2 yard of 44" wide firm sew-in interfacing (and of optional batting)
• 1/2 yard of 36" wide fusible interfacing for flap and handle
• FOR BOTH VIEW:
• Plastic canvas or similar 10 1/4" x 4 1/2" for bag base (26cm x 11 1/2cm)
• 1 metal ring 1 1/2" (38mm) diameter for handle
• 2 or 3 vintage buttons 1 1/4" (32cm) diameter
• 1 magnetic snap
