The Crazy Quilt Bag Pattern by Virginia Robertson is a large tote bag pattern that has instructions for a "quilt-as-you-go" technique to make a truly unique handbag! This bag pattern is simple to make and the finished size is approximately  15" x 15" x 6".

Materials Needed:

  • Collect fabric scraps that coordinate for crazy quilting or buy 1/4 yard cuts.
  • Base fabric - 22" x 36" muslin
  • Bottom stabilizer (very heavy weight) - 6" x 15" of Timtex or Fast 2 Fuse
  • Iron on cotton batting
  • Handles, button loop and ties - 1/4 yard
  • Lining - 1 yard
  • Large button(s) - about 1.5" to 2" for the front of the bag
  • Use a #80 machine quilting needle and match the thread for any topstitching
  • Heat proof plastic pressing sheet or a piece of baking parchment is used to keep the iron from getting residue from the iron on the batting.
  • Optional - Use decorative threads for doing fancy stitching on top of the crazy quilt piecing

  • Model: VRCQBAGD
  • Brand: Virginia Robertson Designs
