Cinched Patchwork Satchel Pattern

The Cinched Patchwork Satchel pattern by Indygo Junction is an easy to carry bag with a comfortable shoulder strap, a magnetic closure, and an elastic top.  This bag can be made of Jelly Rolls, Bali Pops, or even recycled menswear wool and there are convenient inside pockets.  Finished size is approximately 15" H x 13" W x 3 1/2" D.

Materials Needed:

• MENSWEAR VERSION:  Assorted coordinating wools, enough to cut (72) - 2 1/2" x 5 1/2" pieces
• 1 1/2 yards of 45" wide lining fabric
• 1 1/2 yards of cotton batting
• 4" x 14" piece of Stitch 'N Shape or Timtex
• 5" x 34" piece of Pleather for shoulder strap
• Scrap of heavy interfacing
• 24" piece of 1 1/4" elastic
• Two medium, 1" inside diameter grommets by Dritz
• One sew-in magnetic snap closure
• Two 1 1/2" buttons
• BATIK VERSION:  Assorted coordinating batiks, Jelly Rolls or Bali Pops enough to cut (72) 2 1/2" x 5 1/2" pieces
• 1 1/2 yards of 45" wide lining fabric
• 1 1/2 yards of cotton batting
• 4" x 14" piece of Stitch 'N Shape or Timtex
• Scrap of heavy interfacing
• 24" piece of 1 1/4" wide elastic
• Two medium, 1" inside diameter grommets by Dritz
• One sew-in magnetic snap closure
• Optional: 32" length of 1 1/2" wide cotton belting for shoulder strap
