Essential Tote Pattern

The Essential Tote Pattern by Around the Bobbin includes detailed instructions for a beginner bag with a sophisticated look!  A great begginer tote project that is fully line, plenty of interior pockets, an esay snap closure or zipper closure, and with boxed bottom construction.  Finished size is approximately 12 3/4" high x 19 1/4" wide x 4" deep.

Materials needed:

• Fabric (cotton quilting fabric, linens or lighter weight decorator fabrics 42/44" wide)
  • 1/3 yard for upper exterior
  • 1/3 yard for lower exterior
  • 1/2 yard for interior for snap closure version or 5/8 yd for inset zipper panel version
  • 1/2 yard for handles and interior pockets
• Interfacing/Stabilizers
  • 1/3 yard of 44-45" wide firm non-woven interfacing, such as Pellon Craft Fuse 808 for snap closure version, or 1/2 yard for inset zipper panel version
  • Softer Bag: 3 yards of 20-22" wide medium-weight woven woven fusible interfacing, such as Pellon Shapeflex (SF101), or
  • Stiffer Bag: 2 1/3 yards of 20-22" wide medium-weight woven fusible interfacing and 1 yard of stabilizer such as Soft and Stable, Pellon Flex Foam, Sew Lazy Stiff Stuff, or Pellon 926 Extra Firm Stabilizer
• Other Supplies
  • One magnetic snap set or one 18" or longer zipper
  • Rotary cutter, mat and ruler
  • Fabric marking pen
