Simone Bag Pattern *

The Simone Bag Pattern by Jess Goldman of Bananafana Designs is a classic but practical handbag with a small and decorative flap and instructions for a flower embellishment.  There are also instructions for a unique handle and the finished size is 18"W x 25"H (with handle) x 4 1/2"D.

Materials Needed:

• Fabric #1 - 1 1/8 yards for the gathered middle, lining, flap and strap
• Fabric #2 - 1 1/8 yard for the outside front and back, lining and pockets
• Flower Embellishment - 1/4 yard of 2 different light weight fabrics (chiffon, silk, tulle, etc.)
• Interfacing - 1 yard of stiff iron on interfacing
• 1 yard of  fleece iron on interfacing
• Other Materials -
• One package of 1/2" wide maxi piping in a coordinating color OR "Wrap and Fuse" piping and the fabric to cover the piping
• 1 large broach at least 2" wide for the flower center
• 1 large button for the flap at least 1 1/2" wide
• 14 large wood beads about 1" in diameter for the strap
• 15 beading loops/rings with a 1/2" opening (used for jewelry making)
• 2 swivel clips and 2 decorative rings for the strap
• 1 sew on magnetic about 1" square (Dritz invisible magnet)
• 4 squares of felt for the flower backing
