Spice of Life Bag Pattern *

The Spice of Life Bag pattern by Monica Poole is a stylish purse available in 2 sizes and can be finished with a tubular bag frame and a zipper top or drawstring closure.  Finished size for the small bag is 8" x 12" and the large is 10" x 18".

Materials Needed:

• SMALL BAG in one color, size 20cm x 30cm (8" x 12")
• Main fabric - 35cm (1/2 yard)
• Contrast - 35cm (1/2 yard)
• SMALL BAG in 2 colors
• Main fabric - 20 cm (1/4 yard)
• Contrast (lower bag, band and straps) - 60cm (2/3 yard)
• Additional requirements for both small bags:
• Lining - 50 cm (1/2 yard)
• Bag batting - 40 cm (1/2 yard)
• Template plastic - 12 x 25.5 cm (4 3/4" x 10")
• Optional braid - 2/5 m (2 3/4 yards)
• Zipper for internal zipper pocket - 12 cm ( 5")
• LARGE BAG - 25 x 45 cm (10" x 18")
• Main fabric - 30 cm (1/3 yard)
• Contrast (lower bag, band and straps) - 70 cm (1 yard)
• Lining - 75 cm (1 yard)
• Bag batting - 60 cm ( 2/3 yard)
• Template plastic - 14.5 x 37 cm (5 3/4" x 14 1/2")
• Optional braid - 28 m (3 yards)
• Zipper for internal pocket - 12 cm (5")
• Optional bag closures:
• Tubular bag frame - 18 cm (7") for the small bag and 30 cm (12" for the large bag)
• Cord for drawstring - 2 m (2 1/4 yards) for the small bag and 2/5 cm (3 yards) for the large bag
• Open end zipper for zip top bag - 35 cm (14") for the small bag and 45 cm (18") for the large bag
• Light iron on interfacing for the zipper top only - 10 cm (4") for both sizes
