Knitted - Smooth and Shaggy Tote with Flap Pattern

The Knitted - Smooth and Shaggy Tote with Flap 'Bags from Rags' pattern by Madge Ziegler is made from fabric strips and is a great knitted pattern for beginners.  You only need to know how to cast on, bind off and knit (garter stitch).  Finished size is approximately 12 inches x 15 inches.

Materials Needed:

• FABRICS:
• SMOOTH TOTE: a total of 4 yards of fabric cut into strips (I used 2 yds each of 2 contrasting fabrics in the sample)
• SHAGGY TOTE:  A total of at least 5 yards of fabric (I used 6 coordinating fabrics totaling a litte more than 5 yards in my sample)
• Lining - 1/2 yd of fabric for the lining of each bag
• Optional:  3/4 yd of lightweight interfacig
• SUPPLIES: One pair size 13 knitting needles, 14 inches long
• Yarn needle
• Rotary cutting supplies
• Hand and/or machine sewing supplies to make and insert lining
