Promise Handbag Pattern *

The Promise Handbag Pattern by Mary Jo Hiney is a bag pattern that uses a Silk Adaptation fabric package (or seven 7 1/2" x 10 1/2" pieces of different fabrics) to make a drawstring dressy purse with a ribbon handle.  Finished size is 7" wide x 9" tall.

Materials Needed:

• One Silk Adaptation fabric package
• OR
• Seven 7 1/2" x 10 1/2" different fabrics
• 20" or 22" wide lightweight knit fusible interfacing (7/8 yard)
• One Silk Adaptation 14" x 18" fabric piece (for Contrast/Lining)
• OR
• 14" x 18" Contrast/Lining fabric of choise
• 1/8" to 1 1/2" wide ribbon or cording:
• 2 yards for a 15" long drawstring handle (Purchase more ribbon or cording if a longer handle is desired)
• 1/2 to 1 yard 4mm to 7mm silk ribbon for front bow embellishment
• 1/2" to 1" wide novelty bead, button or flower for front bow embellishment
• Additional embellishments of choice such as beads, rhinestones, etc.
• 3" scrap of poster board
• Transparent tape
• Pinking shears
