Streetcar Bags Pattern *

The Streetcar Bags pattern (a Charlie's Aunt Design for Indygo Junction) has an early 1950's flair, with a roomy interior, a practical size, and unique detailing.  There are 2 versions included - one with a pleated overlay on the front and the other with a stylized flap.  Both bags measure approximately 17" W x 13" H x 5" D when finished.

Materials Needed:

• VIEW A - Pleated bow-shaped overlay on the front and a long pointed tab, trimmed with buttons.
• 3/4 yd of 54" wide, or 1 yd 44" wide woolen or decorator fabric for bag exterior
• 3/4 yd of 44" wide lining fabric for bag lining and interior pocket
• 1/2 yd of 44" wide fleece for interfacing bag
• 1/2 yd of 44" wide, or 1 yd of 36" wide medium weight sew-in interfacing for interfacing bag
• 1/3 yd of 36" wide fusible interfacing  for shoulder strap and front tab
• One magnetic snap closure
• 13 1/2" x 4 1/2" piece of plastic canvas or similar product to stiffen bag base
• One 6" long zipper for interior pocket
• Two new or vintage buttons, approximately 1 1/2" in diameter for front tab trim
• VIEW B - Broad, stylized flap trimmed with buttons and a pleated external pocket
• 3/4 yd of 54" wide, or 1 yd 44" wide woolen or decorator fabric for bag exterior
• 3/4 yd of 44" wide fleece for interfacing bag
• 1/2 yd of 44" wide, or 1 yd of 36" wide medium weight sew-in interfacing for interfacing bag
• 1/3 yd of 36" wide fusible interfacing for shoulder strap and front flap
• One magnetic snap
• 13 1/2" x 4 1/2" piece of plastic canvas or similar product to stiffen bag base
• One 6" long zipper for internal pocket
• Two new or vintage buttons, approximately 1 1/2" in diameter for front flap trim
