The Brancaster Messenger Bag Pattern by Charlie's Aunt is a 1940's inspired design with a stylish asymmetrical flap and front pocket. The shape is practical and you can either dress this handbag up or down depending on the fabric and contrasting pocket or strap. Finished size is approximately as follows: Height 9.5” (24cm) Width 13” (33cm) Base width 2” (5cm).

Materials Needed:

• To make whole bag in one fabric, you will need:
• 2/3 yard (60cm) of 60” (154cm) wide or ¾ yard (65cm) of 44” (112cm) wide exterior fabric
• To make with a contrast pocket and strap, you will need:
• 2/3 yard (60cm) of 60” (154cm) wide or 44” (112cm) wide main exterior fabric
• 1/3 yard (30cm) of 60” (154cm) wide or 44” (112cm) wide contrast fabric
• For all combinations, you will need:
• ¾ yard (65cm) of 44” (112cm) wide lining fabric
• 1/3 yard (30cm) of 44” (112cm) wide firm sew-in interfacing
