The Mason Backpack Pattern *

The Mason Backpack pattern by Lucy Morey of Hot Scott Patterns is designed for a pre-schooler but can be used for several years of grade school.  This pattern comes with instructions to fully line the backpack and has a convenient pocket in front, a water bottle pocket, an optional patch, and  is easy to sew.  Finished size is 14"H x 9 1/2"W x 6"D.

Materials Needed:  Extra fabric is needed for directional prints

• 1 yd of 44"/45" wide fabric (cotton, light cordurou, denim, home decor, cotton, canvas, etc.)
• 1 yd lining (contrasting)
• Elastic - 5" of 1/4" wide
• Patch - approximately 3" x 3" (optional)
• Fusible fleece (Pellon - polar weight) 25" 1/4 yd
• 2 zippers - One 9" and the other 16"
• 2 strap adjusters for 1" straps
• 40" long of 1" thick nylon strap
• 3" x 9" plastic artist/crafters grid (or your favorite reinforcement for bottom of bag)
• Correction
