The Little School House Backpack Pattern

The Little School House Backpack and Lunch Bag pattern by Natalie Ross has instructions for a back pack with appliques in the form of a school house and a matching lunch bag, also with appliques.  Finished size for the backpack is 11 1/2" x 15 1/2" (29cm x 39cm) and 7" x 9" (10cm x 23cm) for the lunch bag.  Pattern template included for roof (backpack and lunch bag), windows, door, and ladybug applique.

Materials Needed:  Based on 44" wide fabric (112cm)

• FOR EACH BAG:  1 - magnetic bag clip
• Fusible webbing (Vliesofix) for applique
• 1 Cat and Mouse button
• General sewing supplies: pencil, rotary cutter, ruler, board, etc.
• BACKPACK:  40cm (16") of colored print fabric for body of house
• 40cm (16") of fabric for lining
• 1 Fat 1/4th of colored print fabric for roof (includes lining)
• 15cm (6") of colored print fabric for straps
• 10cm (4") of colored print fabric for roof frill
• Assorted fabric scraps for windows, door, chimney and ladybird
• 65cm (26") of iron-on Pellon
• 2 - 2 1/2" x 9" strips of colored print fabric for loop handle
• DMC threads for window panes, ladybird antennae and applique
• LUNCH BAG: 1 Fat 1/4th of colored print fabric for house body
• 1 Fat 1/4th of fabric for lining
• 1 Fat 1/8th of colored print fabric for roof (includes lining)
• 1 Fat 1/8th of colored print fabric for roof frill
• Assorted fabric scraps for window, door, chimney and ladybird
• 2 - 2" x 8" strips of printed fabric for handle
• 25cm (10") of iron-on Pellon
• DMC threads for applique, window panes and ladybird antennae
