The Grommet Go-Around Bag Pattern by Indygo Junction is an easy to make and stylish handbag that only uses 2-3 pattern pieces and can be made from either decor or quilting fabric.  Decorative grommets made this bag unique and there are 3 different handbag styles instructions included with this pattern.  Finished size for View A and C is 9 1/2"H x 13 1/2"W x 6 1/2"D and View B measures 15"H x 13 1/2"W x 6 1/2"D.  Pattern piece for the bag bottom is included.

Materials Needed:

  • VIEW A COTTON FABRIC VERSION WITH GROMMETS:
  • 7/8 54" width fabric OR 1 yard of 45" wide fabric for purse body, outer handle, grommet sash, and pocket
  • 7/8 yard of 45" wide fabric for purse lining and inner handle
  • 3/4 yard of light to medium weight quilt batting
  • 7/8 yard of medium weight fusible interfacing
  • 3/4" magnetic closure (8) 1 9/16" grommets
  • 12" x 12" of stiff interfacing such as Bosal's Craftex for purse base
  • VIEW B TALL QUILTED BAG WITHOUT GROMMETS:
  • 1 1/8 yards of 54" wide fabric OR 1 1/4 yards of 45" wide fabric for purse body and outer handle
  • 7/8 yard of 45" wide fabric for purse lining and inner handle
  • 3/4 yard of light to medium weight quilt batting
  • 1 1/4 yards of medium weight fusible interfacing
  • 3/4" magnetic closure
  • Two 24" x 27" pieces of pre-printed grid fusible interfacing such as Quiltsmart
  • 12" x 12" of stiff interfacing such as Bosal's Craftex for purse base
  • VIEW C COLOR BLOCKED VERSION WITH GROMMETS:
  • 3/4 yard of 45" wide Main Fabric A
  • 3/4 yard of 45" wide Main Fabric B
  • 7/8 yard of 45" wide fabric for purse lining
  • 3/4 yard of light to medium weight quilt batting
  • 1 yard of medium weight iron on interfacing
  • 3/4" magnetic closure
  • (8) 1 9/16" grommets
  • 12" x 12" of stiff interfacing such as Bosal's Craftex for purse base
