Matilda Bag Pattern *

The Matilda Bag Pattern by Jess Goldman of Bananafana Designs is a practical front flap handbag but with a unique flair!  The front flap is the perfect place to spotlight your focus fabrics and there is a shoulder strap and convenient pockets.  Finished size is 15"W x 29"H (including handle) x 6"D.

Materials Needed:

• Fabric #1 - 1 1/4 yard for the bag, lining, flap, pockets, and strap
• Fabric #2 - 1 1/4 yards for the bag, lining, flap, pockets and strap
• Felted Wool Flower Embellishment (felted wool or felt) -
• 10" square for the large flower petals
• 8" square for the small flower petals
• 7" square for the leaves
• 12" x 2" strip for the ruffle inspired flower center
• Interfacing - 1 yard of stiff iron on interfacing (the stiffer it is the harder it is to sew)
• 1 1/2 yards of fleece iron on interfacing (soft)
• Other Materials -
• Two packages of 1/2" wide maxi piping in a coordinating color OR Wrap and Fuse piping and the fabric necessary to cover the piping
• 1 large broach or button at least 2" wide for the flower center
• 2 swivel clips and 2 decorative rings for the strap
• 1 sew on invisible magnet (Dritz brand - about 1" square)
