The Provence Bag Pattern

The Provence by Ellen Medlock is an easy to make bag pattern in 3 difference sizes - mini, medium, and large.  The appoximate finished sizes (not including the handle straps):

 FULL SIZE: 12 inches W tapering to 8 inches W at the bottom x 11 inches H x 4 inches D.

MEDIUM SIZE: 10 1/2 inches W tapering to 7 1/2 inches W at the bottom x 10 inches H x 3 1/2 inches D.

MINI SIZE: 7 1/2 inches W tapering to 5 inches W at the bottom x 9 inches H x 3 inches D.

Materials Needed:

• FABRIC (45 inches wide light to medium weight cotton), HANDBAG BODY:
  • OPTION A - If you want the fabric exterior and the lining to be the same, 2/3 yard for any size bag
  • OPTION B - If you watn the fabric of the exterior and the lining to be different, 1/3 yard for the exterior and 1/3 yard coordinating fabric for the lining (any size bag).
  • Handle straps, top band, interior pocket - 1/2 yard coordinating fabric for any size bag.
• Trim/Fringe - Ostrich trim, eyelash trim (use your imagination!) Full & Medium size bag: 3/4 yd  Mini bag: 1/2 yd
• Iron on interfacing - Pellon (44 inches W) Full & Medium Size bag: 1 1/8 yd  Mini Bag: 1 yd
• Fabric glue
• Anti-fray liquid
• Magnetic snap (3/4 inch)
• 10 1/2 inches x 13 1/2 inches sheet of stiff plastic needlepoint canvas
